Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
Alberta is a province with friendly people, a diverse landscape and exciting communities. Plenty of opportunities await newcomers.
If you are considering living and working permanently in Alberta, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) may be the immigration channel for you. The AINP is designed to support Alberta's economic growth by attracting labour-market-destined immigrants to the province.
Individuals nominated by the Province of Alberta, together with their spouse and dependent children, are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee. CIC makes final decisions on the permanent resident applications.
The process for applying to the AINP is different, depending on the stream and category you are applying under. Alberta’s Immigration Categories are:
- Skilled Worker Category
The Skilled Worker Category of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is intended for skilled occupations for which formal education and/or specialized training is required.
International Graduate Category

Semi-Skilled Worker Category
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) will consider an employer’s business case for selected occupations in the Food and beverage processing industry, the Hotel and lodging industry, the Manufacturing industry, the Trucking industry, and the Food services industry.
Compulsory Trades Category
To be eligible in this category, you must have successfully completed the Qualification Certificate Program with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) and possess both the Qualification Certificate for the Compulsory Trade and letter of invitation from AIT.
