Attention Filipinos in Canada, the Federal and Provincial immigration programs of Canada are constantly evolving. Let Mercan assist and guide you which among these immigration programs will best meet your needs
Newfoundland and Labrador PNP
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NL PNP) seeks to recruit immigrants who have specialized occupational or entrepreneurial skills. Through an agreement with the Government of Canada, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador may nominate immigrants who can contribute to the economic and social goals of the province for permanent resident status.
Nominees must settle in Newfoundland and Labrador and have sufficient ability to communicate in either English or French. Depending upon the program category in which an application is submitted, specific financial and other criteria will apply.
Once you are nominated by the province, you must submit your NL PNP and federal immigration application package directly to the appropriate CIC visa office. CIC will conduct criminal, security and health checks on your application. It may also request an interview or additional information. CIC will make the final selection decision on whether you will be issued a permanent resident visa.
The categories of the Provincial Nominee Program are:
Occupational/Skilled Worker Category
Applicants submitting an application in this category will be required to have an offer of paid employment from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer who show that the skills needed could not have been met locally and/or that the position was extremely difficult to fill, and that the skills have a critical impact on the local employer's operating ability.
Immigrant Entrepreneur Category
The Immigrant Entrepreneur Category is intended for prospective immigrants who propose to establish a new business or who propose to purchase all or part of an existing business that has supportable prospects for expansion in Newfoundland and Labrador and who intend to be self-employed in that business. All immigrant entrepreneurs must submit the required NL PNP Pre-Assessment documents before submitting a Provincial Nominee Application. Once the immigrant entrepreneur has received official approval of their proposed business plan, he/she may then proceed to submit the Provincial Nominee Application.
Family Connections Category
This category is for immigrant families living in Newfoundland and Labrador who want to help their overseas family members relocate and work in the province. Applicants must have a family member who has been living in Newfoundland and Labrador for at least one year and have a signed Affidavit of Support from one or more family members in Newfoundland and Labrador.
International Graduate Category
This category allows international students, who have graduated from a recognized Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary educational institution, to be considered for nomination for permanent residence in Canada.
