Suspension of Federal Investor’s Program
On June 26, 2010, the Government of Canada proposed changes to the Federal Investor Program. Amendments will be made to the definition of “investor” and “investment” thus increasing the investment amount of $400,000 to $800,000 and personal net worth amount from $800,000 to $1.6M.
At present, CIC has 16,000 cases and is committed to processing 3,000 each year.
The proposed amendment aims to improve application intake with CIC processing capacity to curb inventory growth and meet processing targets.
No Federal Investor Program will be accepted unless received by a CIC post before June 26, 2010. Suspension is until new regulations come into force. Until the changes become applicable, Quebec Investor’s Program is the only program that remains open for qualified individuals who want to apply as business immigrants in Canada.
