Attention Filipinos in Canada, the Federal and Provincial immigration programs of Canada are constantly evolving. Let Mercan assist and guide you which among these immigration programs will best meet your needs
Prince Edward Island PNP
Under the Agreement for Canada-Prince Edward Island Co-operation on Immigration, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is a Federal-Provincial partnership between the Province of Prince Edward Island, represented by Island Investment Development Inc. (IIDI), and the Government of Canada, represented by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program expedites immigration to Canada for individuals and their families who meet provincial criteria in support of the following initiatives:
• Increased business and economic development
• Increased supply of skilled workers
• Increased population
• Achievement of provincial demographic, social and cultural objectives
There are four categories under the PEI PNP, to be applied for according to the category that suits your skills and ability to qualify as a potential immigrant applicant. The four categories under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program are as follows:
Immigrant Partner Category
This category is intended for prospective immigrants who propose to make a $200,000.00 Canadian dollar investment in a Prince Edward Island company and to take an active role in the investee company. That role may be either as a director or as a senior manager defined at level "O" of the National Occupational Code.
Immigrant Entrepreneur Category
To be eligible under this cateogry, you must have a minimum net worth of $400,000 and have a willingness to invest a minimum of$200,000 to establish a new enterprise (or to purchase no less than 33% of an existing business).
Immigrant Connections Category
A principal applicant suggested by a Prince Edward Island based “champion” who meets settlement and employability criteria. The “Champions” are the people who can make a recommendation on your behalf, as well as who can be nominated, but in principle, Prince Edward Island is looking for people and families who can earn a living on Prince Edward Island and who will make a long term, meaningful commitment to your life and to the broader community. Eligible family to nominate or sponsor includes: daughter or son, brother or sister, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle, grandchild, first cousin or step relative or in-law of the same level. This is an honour-based program. Champions are not required to sign a formal agreement or provide a financial guarantee.
Skilled Worker Category
Prince Edward Island provides employment opportunities for an increasing number of skilled individuals. In particular, there are currently openings for workers in aerospace, information technologies and bioscience, among others. The Government of Prince Edward Island provides the “Skilled Labour Shortages” list, as an information tool for prospective immigrants to assess the likelihood of their securing paid employment in a particular occupation. PEI’s work force is quite small and, as such, labour market gaps may appear and disappear relatively quickly. The inclusion of a particular occupation in the skills shortage data base is no assurance that employment can readily be obtained.
